Welcome to Holy Monkey Forest, Sangeh! 14 hectares homogeneous Pala (nutmeg) Forest is inhabited by hundreds of tame monkeys.
Located about 35 km from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, can be reached within 1 hour. This area is situated in Sangeh Village, Abiansemal Sub-District, Badung regency.
This is the biggest and the first Monkey Forest introduced as a resort in Bali. The height of Pala Trees shade a mossy temple of Bukit Sari amidst the forest. It is a Hindu temple heritage by the Mengwi Kingdom, which was built in the 17th century.
Pura Bukit Sari Sangeh
In the Sangeh Monkey Forest, a protected grove of Nutmeg Trees where a troop of monkeys dwell as honored guests can be found a spacious temple known as Pura Bukit Sari Sangeh. This temple was built by the royal family of Mengwi and now is taken care by the people of Sangeh Village.
