Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is located in Bukit Ungasan at Raya Uluwatu Street, Ungasan Village, Sub-District of South Kuta, Badung Regency, 17 km or 16 minutes from I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport.
Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is located on top of a limestone hill of 263 meters high above sea level (asl). From this height, you can watch the southern part of Bali Island facing the Indian Ocean. While on the north side, some airplanes come and go at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport as the view of Badung City. Enjoying the charm of nature from Bukit Ungasan will be even more perfect if you take your time to watch the sunset.
The area of this Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is approximately 250 hectare. It is planned to establish a landmark or mascot of Bali a colossal statue, statue of Lord Vishnu riding Garuda Bird. It was built in 75 meters high, with the foundation of 70 meters high the wings of the Garuda Bird will also stretch 66 meters wide. The primary materials to manufacture the sculpture are copper and brass with a total weight of about 4.000 tons. When this project is completed, the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Monument will stand 145 meters high, and has the same height as the Statue of Liberty. It is visible from a radius of up to 20 km so it can be seen from Kuta and Nusa Dua.
Initially, GWK Cultural Park is designed to be one of the prestigious performance venues in Bali. Like a small city, almost all facilities are available here, such as Lotus Pond surrounded by stone pillars and rock background of Garuda Bird state's head make the area with a capacity of 7500 Plaza Vishnu art shop, Exhibition Hall, Amphitheatre holding a position of 800 seats, Street Theatre is an outdoor stage and Jendela Bali restaurants with Jimbaran view Beach.
Also near the statue of Lord Vishnu, there is sacred spring water named Parahyangan Somaka Giri. This spring water is believed to cure various diseases as it has excellent mineral contents. The locals have used the water for treatment since long time ago.
